This is where I will talk about my favorite taquerias around town. This will by no means be an exhaustive list. For one thing, there are so many taquerias in San Diego alone that I would be fat and soon dead if I did. Second, I think most places are pretty good. So that’s why this section is called notables, because these places stand out above the rest. I’m going to be relying on email tips to try new places out. Email me.

One thing I’ve realized is that for a guy who loves burritos, I pretty much eat at the same dozen or so places every time. Time to branch out. Hopefully if I do my job, you can try some new, good places out too.

All over town, good taco shops are closing—three in downtown in the last year at least. Local chains—Robertos, Sombrero, Santanas—are advertising on alt-rock radio and on the web and feature “happy meals” with toys. McDonalds and so forth are selling—burritos!
